Yes, if you make the mistake of not running the NVIDIA/X setup first, you get the X setup error. Answer is to boot to the \"Other OS\" feature and select the Fedora install CD image. It will start the X setup automatically.
I have been trying to fix this for a week now. I have a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti on a laptop with Fedora 32 installed. I run NVIDIA-Linux-x86-310.4-win.fc32.x86_64.run from the NVIDIA download page and it removes the user x and installer as usual. So I am prompt and the installer starts. After it is install it tries to go to the desktop but nothing happens. I have tried using a safe mode by pressing CTRL+ALT+F2 and entering \"/sbin/agetty text/xboot\" but I have not been successful in launching anything besides the installer. I have followed the advice of several other articles and even forced the NVIDIA GPU to default and it boots into X. But I still cant launch anything on the desktop. However the installer is a nice GUI and works fine and I would like to get the laptop running fine. But I cant even get it into the desktop. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. The NVIDIA installation guide is very unclear on what to do. I cant get it to work right. I have the latest version of the driver from the NVIDIA release on the download page. I get the same error with or without xforcevesa. I have tried to use the NVIDIA X Server Settings but I get the same error when I try to configure the NVIDIA video card. I have tried NVIDIA_Linux-x86_310.4-win.fc32.x86_64.run but it just goes to the installer and that works fine. I have used the NVIDIA X Server Settings guide but i get the same error when I try to configure the NVIDIA video card. 3d9ccd7d82
